Go Boat

We all love adventure. We explore new places and experience some amazing and interesting things around. Last month we had wonderful experience with 'Go Punting' when we visited Cambridge. Kids loved boating around, So when GoBoat London invited us to try their new route of Canal boating at Kingston with a 'self-drive' experience, we couldn't say No :)

We go to beach and park in a beautiful weather but we rarely think about exploring canals in London and its beautiful surroundings. It is actually a fantastic way to spend a few hours and experience viewing urban location around London from a different perspective. GoBoat is self drive with an electric engine and are located in Merchant Square, Paddington,  Basin which operates between Little Venice, Regent Park, London Zoo and Camden Lock. Recently they are operating between  Teddington Lock to Hampton Court Bridge at Kingston Upon Thames, which will be open for general from Saturday 11th May.

Getting there:
We drove over there and found the parking which is easily accessible between 3/4 minute walking distance . There are 2 parking 3-4 minutes walk away from the Go Boat spot. They are Bentall and John Lewis car park .We paid £5.50 for 3 hours. There are café, restaurants and children friendly bars in the bank of the Thames just beside the Go Boat spot. Go Boat customers can use the toilet and baby changing facilities for free.

Little ones were handed with lifejackets specific for children and babies. We were provided safety tips and instruction to drive the boat which took around 10 minutes so, make sure to reach the location 15 minutes prior to the booking time. And off we went for amazing experience.

Tips From our driver @londondadof2

Hi All, it was a lovely day out with my family over to Go Boat. It's an absolute fun to drive the boat by yourself and is easy to change direction when needed. It's comfortable and a table in the middle of boat provides you to have picnic. You can bring blankets as per the weather condition. Children will be provided with life jackets. Adults can be also provided if needed. It's very safe to drive the boat. The scenes and view around the Thames is mind blowing and the beautiful houses by the bank and a small island nearby gives you an impression of Venice .There are people sailing in yachts and other bigger boats. A map will be provided so that the route is easily understood. You don't need to be a pro to drive it. It was my first drive and I absolutely loved the experience. You can also see Hampton Court Palace which is an hour sail away from the Go Boat spot. Phone number is provided with the map for emergency contact. It's very safe to take kids with you in the boat too. My little one actually drove it for few minutes. Everybody loved it. We will be booking it again very soon.

View and Surroundings
Kingston Upon Thames canal is really wide and the surroundings are also beautiful. It has array of popular pubs and restaurants to enjoy.

This is one of the great activity to spend with your friend and family. You can have little picnic or even celebrate birthday, anniversary and other occasions with bunch of your good friends. Children and dogs are welcome with maximum of  8 person per boat.

GoBoat UK is open 7 days a week, 9AM until dusk at Riverside Walk in Kingston. Prices start at £59 for 1 hour, £89 for two hours. For more information and pricing you can check and find out here.

Over all it was wonderful experience. We will definitely come back or try out GoBoat Paddington next time with our picnic bag and some drinks too.

Disclosure: We were invited to review the GoBoat Adventure however all opinions are my own.

  2. This looks a lovely thing to do. We hired a boat in Barcelona last year, only a rowing boat, but it was a lovely thing to do as a family.
